Efficient Planning as the Key to Success
Interview with Michel von Burg
With a clear vision for optimizing work preparation, Michel von Burg brings his experience and expertise to CREAMETAL. In this interview, he talks about his career path, the importance of efficient processes, and why digitalization is essential in work preparation.
What attracted you to this new challenge at CREAMETAL?
I see CREAMETAL as a company with great potential and a strong market position. What excites me most is the opportunity to further develop work preparation and optimize processes. The combination of planning, material management, and close collaboration with production and sales perfectly matches my strengths and experience. Additionally, I appreciate a dynamic work environment where I can actively shape changes.
What has your career path been like so far?
I started my career with an apprenticeship as a polymechanic, which I successfully completed. I then gained experience as Head of Mechanics and completed a training program as an industrial foreman.
For twelve years, I worked in production planning and control, covering key areas such as sales, planning, and quotations. I spent two years in a leadership role, including responsibility for logistics. Most recently, I held a management position at an energy company, but I felt the desire to return to my roots in production planning and control.
What are your key responsibilities in work preparation? What makes good work preparation in your opinion?
The primary task of work preparation is to ensure that production runs efficiently, on time, and with optimal resource utilization. This includes precise planning, close coordination with sales and production, and continuous process optimization. All necessary components and materials must be available on time for production and assembly.
Good work preparation is characterized by transparency, flexibility, and foresight. Modern digital tools and close collaboration with teams are essential to ensuring high efficiency and quality.
Where do you see the greatest potential for optimization in work preparation at CREAMETAL?
Mario wants to refocus on his core responsibilities as CEO and sales, while Reto aims to concentrate more on development. Through our discussions, I quickly realized that both need to fully focus on their key competencies.
I see my strength in supporting them by optimizing work preparation. A well-structured and efficient work preparation process can improve workflows, increase transparency, and enhance collaboration between departments. This allows Mario and Reto to focus on their strategic tasks, while work preparation serves as a stable interface between sales, development, and production.
What role do digitalization and automation play for you?
Digitalization is a key factor in modern work preparation. A seamless data flow between planning, sales, and production enables better decision-making, shorter response times, and greater efficiency. Automation helps reduce repetitive tasks, minimize sources of error, and free up employees to focus on value-adding activities.
What do you do in your free time when you're not working?
I enjoy traveling and capturing special moments through photography. I am also passionate about technology, particularly aviation. This fascination with technical processes and precision mechanics is also reflected in my professional passion.
