Why doesn’t the table work for straight and slightly ascending railings?
The table has been developed for sloping railings (20° to 42°). The table can be applied only, if the baluster is moved by one rotary plate. In case of straight railings (or ascents of up to 8°), I place the balusters vertically and pull the scissor until the element is correct – without any calculation work.

Why can’t I produce a clear distance of 120mm (4.72 in.) on stair railings?
The scissor has been designed in such a way that as many railings as possible can be produced by using it. The design limit has been reached at a clear distance of 120mm (4.72 in.) for sloping railings.

Why is CREA-STAR limited to twenty rotary plates ? Do you have a larger (longer) CREA-STAR for sale?
Element construction: First of all you produce the railing panel, and subsequently you place the newel post. After about 1'700mm (66.92 in.) at the latest, a post has to be set so that the working length is adequate.
An extension is available for the standard CREA-STAR as well as a long version of the gauge. Details are described in the catalogue.

Can I produce railings higher than 1'150mm (45.27 in.)?
There are special booms for larger railings. Please get in touch with us.

Why isn’t the distance between axles correct within the railing?
A deviation of a maximum of 1mm (.039 in.) is within the manufacturing tolerance of the railing. Given a larger deviation, the CREASTAR has to be cleaned, and the scissor has to be moved apart and together again completely in order to compensate the springs.

What can I do, if my posts or balusters are thicker than 30mm (1.18 in.)?
Four rotary plates are supplied as accessories, with which clamping action up to 70 mm (2.75 in.) is possible.

My hand rail has a length of 4'200 mm (165.35 in.) – how must I proceed?
Either I produce a joint in the middle or I shift the whole railing on CREA-STAR once and place it on a stand.

Can I also clamp a large hand rail tube?
After undoing the three adjusting screws of the support rail, the U profile can be turned. Thus the support area turns to large that hand rails up to 42mm (1.65 in.) can be placed without any problems. The standard brass angle can be replaced by an L profile, if even larger support area are required.

Are weld spatters a problem?
No, they aren’t; the scissor is protected by a special heat-resistant plastic cover. Now and then weld spatters may burn in, but that is only an aesthetic problem. The covers can be replaced.

Doesn’t the railing become distorted when welded directly?
Given a baluster over 6mm (.23 in.) we have not noticed any distortion of the railing anymore. Non-distorting work is a big advantage, in particular when handling special steel.

CREA-STAR is only suitable for larger companies with large series?
Often enough there is one man missing to turn the element, especially in smaller companies. The gauge can be set so fast that a maximum of time saving is achieved especially in case of individual units. And: Stair railings with variations at a tenth of a degree and small differences in length in particular, the EDP values can be set in a matter of seconds.

Why is CREA-STAR supplied without stands?
The gauge can be placed on stands available and is fully functional. Our customers also want to set-up CREA-STAR at different working heights. For this reason, it will certainly be less expensive for metal workers to produce these stands themselves. Upon request we will be pleased to supply a drawing.

What do I have to observe in the welding sequence?
Keep to the welding sequence you have had the best experience with so far.

Doesn’t the railing drop out when it is turned over?
This is no problem in case of small balusters. If you have heavy balusters, it may be necessary to secure the element with two vices, or similar.

Can I produce railings for circular newelled staircases on CREA-STAR?
Actually you can’t as the gauge has been developed for straight railings. However, it is possible to roll straight railings – but this requires several attempts.

I would like to produce spacings of less than 100mm (3.93 in.). Is that possible?
Pushing individual elements is possible. If you have such settings more often, please enquire about special scissors.
